Fish quality control

Detection and classification of frozen hake prior to the bagging process to reduce food waste.


Inspect 100% of the fish to reduce the defective product sent to the customer and therefore the returns associated with it.

In this project we extract images from both sides of hakes and apply Artificial Intelligence to classify them into different classes: suitable, with skin, with plastic, with hematoma, etc. The result is sent to a sorting machine that prevents defective material from reaching the end customer. 

Thanks to this system, food waste associated with returns is reduced, costs and energy are saved by avoiding processing and transporting defective products, the possibilities of reworking the defective product to convert it into a suitable product are increased, and the brand image is improved.

This solution has been developed with our Logivision software, which is also used to view detections in real time, store a history of detections and integrate with the client’s computer systems.
