In this project, we use artificial intelligence to analyse images of both sides of hake loins and classify them into categories such as fit, skinned, plastic, bruised, among others. The results are sent to a sorting machine that prevents defective material from reaching the end customer.
This system reduces food waste associated with returns, saves costs and energy by avoiding processing and transporting defective products, increases the chances of reworking the defective product to make it suitable, and improves brand image by reducing returns.
Our solution has been developed with Logivision software, which allows real-time visualisation of detections, storage of a history of detections and integration with the customer’s IT systems.
